AKA Blogging is a conversation

This week, prizes were awarded for blog post and comment of the week.  These titles will be awarded weekly, from now on, and linked from the class blog so that you can all see them and learn about what the top bloggers are up to.

The blog post of the week for 2 weeks ago went to Tigstar, for her post on the empathy writing task, linking events in Lincoln Hall’s story to popular music in a playlist.  The list was insightful and funny, and her post showed how easily blogging can be used to showcase your work.  Appropriately, in keeping with the musical theme, Tigstar was awarded some CD stickers in skully, love heart and star designs.

The blog post of the week for last week went to Phee, with her great Wordle post and follow up comments advising others how to get their Wordles happening.  The post was judged to be particularly good because she matched the colours in her Wordle to her blog theme – very savvy design.  Phee scored some ‘Hip Hip Hoo Ray’ sticky tape to wrap up her excellent efforts.

The commenter of the week went to the prolific McCassie, who still needs to get her blog set up.  How’s that permission form coming along, my friend?  Please ask if you need a new one.  A very promising start with the commenting, nonetheless.  As a prize I threw her a bone, which was actually a pink eraser in disguise.  Now, Little Pink Eraser, did you have something to do with that?!  I smell a conspiracy!

So, what makes a good blog post, or comment?  Have a look at some of these links for some ideas:

Basically a good blogger provokes thought, reflects well, is insightful, and encourages dialogue.  A good commenter plays their part in this relationship of collaboration and interaction too.  A response such as ‘lol’, doesn’t really add much depth to the conversation.  Challenge yourself and others and see if you can really get each other thinking!

In finishing, a call to action (as any good persuasive piece should include).  The blokes need to step up!  Hopefully next week we can redress the gender imbalance :-)
